Old Photos: Iran before the “Islamic Revolution” of 1979

Not too many people remember that Iran was not always like it is now. Here are some old photos of Iranian people and their country taken before the tragedy of 1979.

Let us start with the university students:

Although I should have, probably, started with the ruling family. But… we are in favor of democracy, so let the Royalties go after the students:

Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi – was the last Shah (Emperor) of Iran from 16 September 1941 until his overthrow by the” Iranian Revolution” on 11 February 1979 and his second wife Farah Shahbanu (Empress).

A few decades earlier:

Princess Fawzia Fuad of Egypt , also known as Muluk Fawzia of Iran, the first wife of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Young Reza Shah after an assassination attempt. For a year afterwards he used a mustache to hide the scar caused by the bullet.
